Biology of roatan

For my biology of roatan I read a website about saving the coral in Roatan Honduras. The website talked about their mission to restore the coral reefs. They started in one bay and moved to another, now no coral has been lost or damaged and it's showing growth. They grow coral to spawn more coral. While spawning they take the bad coral and put it with good coral.

Mr and Mrs Van Dana got Into a lot of arguments over the days. There was a lot of yelling because Peter kept taking  a book that was meant for adults. It ended up with him getting slapped, not getting dinner, and sleeping In the loft. Every day Anne either reads or works on her school work. She is teaching father Dutch and in return he is helping her with French and other subjects. Anne can't stand Mrs.Van Daan because all she does is nag at her all the time. Anne's father made a new friend that calls the office all the time trying to talk to someone.

Anne is jealous of her moms and sisters relationship, they always have eachothers back but they never have Annes. Luckily  Anne's father sides with her and not them. He does it alot with Mrs. Van Daan, for example Mrs. Van Daan told Anne that she needed more vegetables and Anne's father was quick to put her in her place because she didn't eat a lot of vegetables herself. Mrs. Van Daan always judged Anne and her parents. She would judge everything about Anne, and for Annes parents she would basically tell them that they were doing it wrong if it wasn't her way. Anne learned that you can never truly judge someone until after a fight because that is when their true character comes out.

For my travel youtube I decided to watch a video on cool things to do in roatan. Something fun to do is take a boat tour or a water taxi. You can go ziplining through the jungle at the park monkey trail. The half moon bay on the west end has a boat that is free for anyone to play on. There is a shop that has lots of Honduras specialties.

This week I did review, listening, vocab, and half of the core lesson. 

Cooking

Today for cooking class we made tuna and potato soup. This soup is very commonly made while people In Spain are catching tuna. I had to leave early so I didn't try the soup, I didn't get any response one it either. While making the soup we had to let the tuna sit in salt Water while we made the rest. At the end we blended it a little but you make it thicker.

Roatan biology

Instead of Roatan this week we were assigned to do it on crabbing. This Saturday we did it off the dock with net crab pots. We didn't catch any keepers so we just got practice with grabbing them. When grabbing a crab if you grab the back  then you can't really get hurt from it. The difference between male and female is the shape of their abdomen. A male will have a long and narrow shape, a female will have a short and wide shape. The reason that you need to know the difference is because females are illegal to keep. We also learned that the crab has to be 5 ½ inches wide. A common bait is chicken, but you can add things like smelly jelly or cat food.

YouTube of places we will travel to

For my youtube of the virgin island i decided to do mine on roatan. In the western part of Roatan there is a zoo that you can go see where you can hang out with all kinds of animals and it's only 10$. You can also go on the zip line but that costs extra. You can rent a moped for the week that costs 185$. There is a place with monkeys and birds. The monkeys and birds are trained to come back so they can roam the island whenever they please. You can go on a boat that had food and drinks and you can swim in the water.

(preface),Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who lived with her father, sister, and mother. She died before she was 16 and her father left, when he came back he found her diary and published it.(book), on Annes way to school she caught up with an old friend, his name was hello. They walked to school together and talked. Hello had a girlfriend so they didn't hang out much. One day Hello broke up with his girlfriend, so Anne started to hang out with him a lot more. Anne knew that hello liked her but she ignored it. Her sister came to her one day and said that she got called up by the SS. her family went into hiding with the Van Daan family.  

The day they got to the house Anne and her dad did the cleaning while her mom and sister rested, the helpers went and got groceries. The next day they picked up on the cleaning again. The walls were blank so Anne plastered some pictures, it didn't do much but it was something. Her mother started to feel better, but her sister still felt horrible.  They have books to read and berries to can and they're going to buy some games later on.  Over the weeks Anne has felt much more distant from her family the only one she really talks to is her dad and even he talked her mom and sisters side with everything. Ane just wishes that she could talk to her dad about anything but she knows that it won't happen because of her age. The Van Daan arrived and we talked with them the whole day.

For cooking class today we talked about common foods in northern spain. We also learned how to use the doc that has all of the recipes so that we can plan ahead on what we want to make. We looked at recipes to know what is in Spain menus.  We Didn't make anything today, we just talked about what we will be doing next week. Marmitako (Basque Tuna and Potato Soup)

Biology of Roatan

For my biology of roatan I watched a video on diving. From the video I learned that while diving it is better to have your legs more stiff and going straight up and down, rather  than having them all over the place. When possible it's good to stay out of the sand so that you can see. It's also important to not touch coral reefs because it hurts you and the reef. When there are beds of grass, little fish will lay their eggs there so that the big fish wont find them and eat them. It is much easier to go free diving because you don't have to worry about your tank hitting anything.

Travel summary

For my travel summary I decided to do it on some of the most unbelievable places in the world. The crooked forest, the crooked forest has a forest with pine trees grow a couple feet north and then sprout up.The fly Kaiser, people think that it is a natural formation but it is an act of human activity water shoots out of it and into pools and it has been abandoned multiple times. Nika mine, it's filled with giant crystals in Mexico. You can't go there now because somebody tried to steal one of the crystals and ended up suffocating and dying because you can't be in there for longer than 10 minutes.

Anything summary

For my anything summary I decided to do it on what it's like to work at petsmart grooming. You have to wash the dogs with bad Quality shampoo unless they pay extra. Even if you do pay extra your still not going to get a very good shampoo. Petsmart has a window so that you can watch your dog. That makes it difficult for the groomer because the dog needs to sit still and it's hard for the dog to do that when they can see it's family.
