Chapter8 summary of Where the red fern grows

Opening day comes and he's ready for the hunt but his mom isn't too happy about this but she respects the fact that he worked very hard for those dogs. He was walking in the woods when he noticed his dogs giving him the signal that there was a coon. They tried to track it but it didn't work. They came back to Billy  and sat there as he talked to them then all the sudden little Ann took off and soon after did old Dan. The animal was coming straight towards Billy. He turned and pushed his body up against the tree in fear but then he saw it the coon ran right past him and behind it were his dogs. Billy ran off and then everything stopped and he realised that his dogs had treed there first coon. But the tree was far too big and there was nothing Billy could do. He was going to leave but he realized I told my dogs they put it in a tree and i'll do the rest so that's exactly what he did. He chapped and chopped. He fell asleep there and woke up to the sound of his father calling for him. He got up and went back home.
