The roatan institute for marine scientist (RIMS)was established in 1989 by the owners of the Anthony's key resort. The biggest goal of the facility is to preserve Roatans natural resources through education and research. The facility is visited year-round by college universities and high schools. RIMS is located for marine study on the north west coast of roatan where over 30 miles of Shoreline are home to many animals.
