Anne's father got sick, he was covered in spots. Anne's mother made him perspire in hopes of sweating out the fever. The Van Daans furniture was moved out of their apartment and nobody told Mrs. Van Daan beacuse they didn't want to hear her complain about how she missed her china. Some of the helping people stayed the night but it wasn't very fun beacuse they had drank to much wine. Anne talked about how she suspected she was going to get her period soon and that she was upset beacuse she can't use sanitary napkins and the tampons her mom had were only made for women who had already had kids. Anne added a comment a year later and talked about how she would never write like that beacuse she was much older and mature. Anne and her mother were getting along better but not much. They lit the stove the other night and the room was still filled with smoke. Peters 16th birthday celebration happened and he got a couple presents. There was a nice baker who delivered bread every day. Anne's family had bought 300 pounds of beans and on the last box Peter slips and dropped them and they went every where. Now each time they go in the hallway they hunt for beans.

After a long time of waiting everyone has decided to add an 8th person to the hiding spot. They chose a nice dentist that they knew. The 8th person will arrive on Monday. Mr. Dussel was baffled when he found out that he was going to be staying with the Ottos. He started talking about all of the rumors that had been made in town about the family. Mr. Dussel told lots of stories about what was happening back in town. He talked about how these big cars would go through the town and knock on everyone's door and ask if there were Jews. If there were the whole family would be taken into the big car. He talked about how they are beat. There was no remorse it didn't matter if it was elderly, children, or pregnant women they were beat and marched around. It freaked Anne out to think about all of her friends and loved ones who had to go through that.

Joe and I hope we can gather the family for a Christmas meal here on Christmas Day about 1:30 pm. Joe plans his famous ravioli, hearty salad...
