Chapter 6 summary of "Where the red fern grows"

After that horrible night for Billy and the pups Billy fixed them breakfast. While Billy was sitting at the camp he realized that he hadn't named them yet. So he mumbled name after name until he looked up and saw that there were two names carved into the white bark of a sycamore tree. The names read "dan and ann". He knew that those were the perfect names, he decided he would call his girl pup little ann and his boy one old dan. Billy wanted to put off going home but once he heard the sound of his pup's cries from hunger he knew that he needed to go home and face his mother and father. He opened the door to his home and could see worry go away in his mothers eyes. His father then told him that they already knew why he had left. After Billy told him that in his bag there was a gift for everyone. After everyone opened their presents Billy realized that everything was forgiven. After that his mom made him and the pups some food.while he was eating his father came to the table and talked to him about his trip. He asked how Billy liked town. Billy said that he didn't like it and that he would never move there. His father then told him that once they got enough money they were moving there. His father realized that it was late and ended the conversation for that night. The next day he made a dog house for the pups with the help of his family. After his father gave him material for collars Billy carved their names into each nd put the around both of his pups.
